A new dad claims he found a wriggly parasite in a hospital canteen breakfast as he visited his wife and newborn son.
Wayne Foster-Wells, 31, from Newport, South Wales, said he found the grub hidden in his tomatoes while eating a £2.50 fry-up at the Royal Gwent Hospital, in Newport.
The unemployed father-of-nine was visiting his wife Tammy at the hospital after the birth of their son Samuel.
The new dad was eating the breakfast in the hospital’s canteen when he said he realised towards the end of the meal that there was a maggot on his plate.
Wayne said: “It was your standard fry-up with omelette, bacon, sausage and tomatoes, but towards the end of the meal I noticed a maggot on the plate.
“I immediately told the other people eating the breakfast, but they carried on eating.
“I then spoke to the hospital staff but they didn’t seem bothered.
“All they could say to me was that they would take my name and address but it could take multiple months before anything was done.
