The imposing theme proved more popular than the likes of Duel Of The Fates and the main title theme in the list, compiled by Spotify to mark Star Wars Day.
Composed by John Williams, the piece of music was first heard in the 1980 film The Empire Strikes Back – but since then has become synonymous with the notorious black-helmeted villain.
The Cantina Band music from the films was the second most popular track in the list, while Duel Of The Fates, from 1999′s Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, finished third.
Spotify also reported that the service has played host to over 74,000 Star Wars-themed playlists since launching in 2006.
Star Wars Day was originally founded in 2005 but has recently become an excuse for organised celebrations after an event was organised in Canada in 2011.
Fans clearly have more to celebrate than usual this year following the news that a new Star Wars film is set to go into production next year.
The new movie was confirmed late last year following Disney’s acquisition of LucasFilm – with Star Trek’s JJ Abrams on board to direct.
