The nightmare scenario was designed to have exactly that affect as part of a training drill to see how staff would react in the situation.
The only problem was that none of the 15 instructors at Pine Eagle Charter School realised it was an emergency drill and not a real attack.
‘I’ll tell you, the whole situation was horrible,’ elementary teacher Morgan Gover told The Oregonian newspaper.
‘I got a couple [of blanks] in the front and a couple in the back.’
The two men wearing masks ambushed a staff meeting last month before firing blanks at terrified teachers who eventually realised it was a drill.
No students were present during the fake attack as they were home for an in-service day.
Principal Cammie DeCastro said if the attack was real, not many teachers would have made it out alive.
